“my entry is semi enclosed and the doorbell looks directly at the wall across from it. It would seem you would only get the side of a person if they didn't look directly at the doorbell, right? all of the pictures show ring directly on the door.”

The Ring Doorbell 2 comes with two spacers in wedge form. One to allow the doorbell to be angled left or right and the other to angle it up or down. One of them might help. The field of view is pretty wide. Look online for videos from users and you might see some installations with doors similar to yours.

This situation requires the use of a wedge kit to properly angle your Ring Video Doorbell to catch the motions your want while avoiding the motions you don't. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I put the ring.camera with bell beside the entrance Front door which is a covered area in the middle of our home. I had the geek squad mount the camera so I actually see the yards in the areas .beyond our own yard. Beyond our yard, it shows all three houses on the other side of the street. It is a fish eye shot and is quite handy at taking pictures as long as there is movement! Very happy that I did not install because it was necessary to change out the mounting brackets and install a new ring bell. Worth $100 for installation after seeing what would have been impossible for me to do it by myself!.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you get someone from the geek squad to install it for you it will be fine. Also I will mention that BestBuy have been very good in correcting my installation and replacing the ring.com product and setting it up again. I was very unhappy with the initial installation after the tech dropped the mounting screw and used one that was too big and it warped the unit so the cover was not on correctly! After reading the many problems installing a surveillance camera, I knew it would be the ring.com door bell! You will save yourself a big headache if you buy it, then charge it fully ...many hours before they do the installation. That was the 1st problem and it lead to other problems. You will love it!
