You get a 30-day free trial to test out the service then after that there is a $3 a month fee or a flat $30yr fee. Saving $6 if you pay the yearly fee. It's by far the cheapest service fee for these types of cams/doorbells.

There's a monthly charge if you want to record the video and keep it available for download (it saves each recording for 30 days in the cloud). It's $3 a month for a single Ring unit. You don't need it for the doorbell to work, i.e. see people in live-view who ring your doorbell but if you want to actually record what is going on you'll need the subscription.

You dont have to, but if you want to keep your videos to go back to them or view videos after the fact then you need to pay 3 dollars per month or 30 for the year for one device.
