You get a 30-day free trial to test out the service then after that there is a $3 a month fee or a flat $30yr fee. Saving $6 if you pay the yearly fee. It's by far the cheapest service fee for these types of cams/doorbells.

It's $3 a month for a single Ring unit. You don't need it for the doorbell to work, i.e. see people in live-view who ring your doorbell but if you want to actually record what is going on you'll need the subscription.
