Power provides a slow charge and activity uses up power quickly. Eventually it should catch up but I would recommend a full charge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You have the option to either hardwire or charge battery. If your hard wiring it, there is no need to charge it. I charge it because the location of my existing wires is not at a location where my camera angle can see. So I simply installed the ring unit on a different wall and charge it whenever it gets low. It takes months for the battery to go down and may take 4-5 hours to fully charge. So no big deal with running on just battery. Besides, I like the battery option because I use this little unit as a portable surveillance camera to take on vacation or for special purposes when I want to monitor something. The battery option gives me that flexibility.
