• It can be installed both ways. Wireless or connected to the wires from existing bell. Wireless will make it work off of the batteries which you will have to change often if your bell is busy with activities (people pushing it,walking past it.) Connect it to existing wires no problems.

• It is and uses a battery which will have to be recharged. Mine is hard wired so no need to charge the battery.
