You can set the distance from 5 to 30 ft. There are several zones that it allows you to set up.

the video sees out to 50-60 feet. It's picked up movement of the guy reading our electrical meter starting 50 feet away, followed him around to the other side of the house. Don't know if you can set the distance it sees.

It has 6 zones you can set for motion. You can set it from 5 to 30 ft. I have mine set on the leftt side of my door frame & it detects when even someone comes out the door.

You can set the distance along with the sensitivity to the motion. Mine is set so that it shows movement on the sidewalk in front of our home so therefore I sometimes get the trash truck or a car driving by slowly. This can all be adjusted as you see fit.
