The door bell is screwed into the framing around the door. There is then a faceplate that covers these screws. The faceplate is secured by a screw that requires a special bit, so it’s not your typical screwdriver. In the event of a theft, ring has a procedure where they will replace the doorbell. It requires the filing of a police report and then submission of that report to ring.

Since the pro model requires a hardwire, it usually replaces your current doorbell as the hookups from the old can usually be used for the ring. Regardless, it’s secured by screws to whichever surface your putting it on; for me was brick, so a couple anchors for the screws plus the hardwires screwed in. It’s definitely possible to be stolen, but it wouldn’t be an easy job and ring offers FREE lifetime theft replacement with proper police report filed; but this is only for the first original owner, so make sure to buy new. Plus, you’ll have a full recording of it if you opt into the cloud storage or ring protect plus.
