This doorbell can be either hardwired or used as a stand alone device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This model is designed to be connected by hard wire or WiFi Most of the Ring products are hard wired only. I got this one because where I currently live there is no wiring for a door bell. However if at some point I move I want to have the ability to use the wiring. I’ve found if it’s connectrd by WiFi only you will probably need the chime with the WiFi booster. Even though my house is only 1,200 sq ft the distance to the router was too far to pickup the motion and for me be able to speak to you them effectively. Now that it’s all connected properly it all works great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can be hardwired if you like. If you have an existing doorbell system, RING supplies the diode required in using existing wiring. If not, third party power supplies can be bought from Ebay which require a dropping resistor inline with the power to keep surges from damaging the unit, then it will run as if AC powered. As purchased, however, you simply charge the unit every few months depending on how often you have it set for motion alerts, etc.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, Thanks for reaching out. Your Ring Video Doorbell can either be hardwired to your pre- existing doorbell or it can be battery operated. If you go with the battery operated version you will not need any pre- existing wires. Thanks, Kaitlyn R., Neighbor Satisfaction Specialist [email protected]
