Mine works on my cell phone on the Ring app. It doesnt matter where you are you get an alert on your phone and can answer door and talk to whoever is at door. It also picks up motion, I had a prowler at my door at 4AM and got the alert, saw the man, and called police. He stole some tools from porch. They got his pic off my phone and arrested him the next day. I really thought it was something cool but never realized how much I would depend on it for alot of things, package deliveries,it even allows me to keep an eye on my kids if they get home from school before I get home they can sit on porch and talk to me while I drive home.

You will need a ladder . The kit comes with a screwdriver and a drill bit so you might need a drill. I did not use the drill bit at all. It is just in case you have brick wall. And need to mount the actual button.
