The unit I have has a screw at the bottom to loosen. Then you can push the doorbell up to unlock off of the wall mount. It does not have a place for batteries because it has an internal battery. You remove it from the wall mount and charge it from the micro SD charger on the back. You know when it is completely charged because the blue ring around the button will be sound and will stop blinking. Hope this helps.
