• No. It can be mounted using just the rechargeable battery, but you will need to purchase the ring chime extenders if you want to hear an audible 'ring' in the house other than the chime from just your phone app. If you do have a wired door bell to replace, it will do all the same things as the battery option plus ring your existing home doorbell.

• It does not. There is a built in battery that will charge via a micro usb. It does have to be taken off the house to charge, but usually last a couple months on one charge
