“I have a metal (tin) facing around my front door and I'm wondering how to mount the device. Can I use a heavy duty glue to affix it to the door frame or should I drill into the metal? I'm afraid that water will seep in through the drill hole site beneath.”

I would recommend drilling into the metal frame for a safer support. And you could use silicon on the frame before installing the device.
