It depends on the size and intensity of the heat signature. All vehicles seem to trip mine from an average of 60 to 80 feet away. However, large trucks and some cars will set mine off from well over 100 feet away. People are a whole other story – depending on the settings you use they may not set it off until they're right i'm top of it.
