• You can wire to existing doorbell or use battery power. If you use battery power, I suggest adding a Ring Chime. Works great.

• Yes, the standard version is battery powered with an advertised life for the rechargeable battery of six months to a year. The more expensive Ring Doorbell Pro must be connected to the old doorbell power source.
