“Removing plastic covering on plug! I have the same problem of pushing the cable in and then it falling out. I noticed that the plug end had a plastic cover but I could not find anywhere that it told me to remove this covering so I have left it on! Now are you saying I should remove the covering on the plug itself and then try inserting it again! I am completely new at this and don't want to damage either cable or equipment! Thanks!”

At the very tip of the optical audio cable plug is a clear plastic piece that looks like a tiny lightbulb. It is actually just a cover to a metal tip. You have to remove the plastic cover or the cable won't insert. There is no mention on the box that the cover has to be removed. Major error by Rocketfish. A tech at Best Buy told me ..."You wouldn't believe how many people come in with the same problem." Remove the plastic cover and it will work nicely.
