“Does anyone know if the wall wart is hard wired to this or does it unplug from the USB part so that I could use a cigarette lighter adapter in the car for people in the back of my car/truck? Thanks for any insight folks.”

It's hard wired but you could always use a cigarette lighter inverter and plug the USB charger into that. Best Buy sells several different models.
