No.... I had to strip about a 1/4 and push hard while tightening the clip.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These are for large-guage speaker wire (12-14). That is because they rely on a pointed spike that must insert into the unstripped center of the wire to make the connection. Only larger-guage wire is wide enough in diameter to assure that the spike will in fact insert into the center of the wire and contact the metal wire securely. In any case, banana plugs that provide a secure crimp in some manner are the better choice.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a sharp cone that you push the opening of the speaker wire onto then you screw the back half on and it compresses on it. They work fine for me, once you open box you will see that stripping the wire wouldn’t make much sense
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would not want to strip the wire. A thin piece of metal extends from the plug. You center it within the wire / insulation that has been clipped flush and push it into speaker wire. Everything tightens up nicely, leaving the thin piece of "needle like" metal to make contact with wire.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the instructions tell you to strip the wire, so much, I go a little more. I stripped the wire.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a center pin located inside the banana plug that gets inserted into the speaker wire. The center pin makes contact with the strands of the wire without needing to strip off the insulation on the wire.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I did not strip the wire, and installed exactly as written in the directions. There is a point in the middle of the banana clip that you’re supposed to slide in the middle of your unstripped wire to make contact.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used these plugs with Rocketfish™ - 100' Speaker Wire - 16AWG - Gold and found that I did not have to strip the wire. Rather the pin within the plug fits right between the wire. If you use the white colored crimping caps, these plugs will stay on nice and snug.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used these a pre-stripped wire that came with a speaker. When putting those wires inside these banana plugs it looked like it would work if the wire was not stripped because the tip of the wire rests against a conducting element which will transmit
