I know others have mentioned it, but I want to stress that AppleTV doesn't support Amazon Prime. I was told by a Geek Squad representative at my local Best Buy that it would, so we purchased Apple's newest choice, AppleTV 4. You can run Prime but only through a different Apple device, like iPad, and only if it's version 3 or newer. Cons: It was difficult to set up. It comes without a manual, and the online instructions are hard to understand, even though I'm pretty tech-savvy. The basic setup doesn't teach how to use the remote or navigate the Settings menu. It wants you to create an Apple account before doing anything, something we weren't told about. The login and search screens recognized characters very slowly, and frequently not at all. Netflix doesn't come with it and I couldn't access content even after downloading the App. It has far fewer free channels than Roku, and is missing some popular news channels. Pros: It has some fun interfacing features with other Apple products, like photo and iCloud sharing, and content streaming. The few channels I watched, like YouTube, were very high quality, both in picture and sound, and streaming was strong and smooth, with no buffering issues. I was especially impressed with Crackle, which requires a lot of bandwidth, and is completely unwatchable on my Samsung SmartTV. AppleTV 4 allows voice commands, including searching for content across many channels. Roku 3 and 4 offer that same feature. I don't have one yet, but my sister has been using Roku for years and loves it. She says her Roku 3 gets a thousand channels, is quiet and easy to use, and has never given her any trouble. I plan on switching over. I'm sorry this isn't the exact comparison you're asking for, but I hope I gave you some useful information. It's so hard to know what to buy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Apple tv is non 4k is geared towards apple ecosystem. Roku has more channels, not locked into any ecosystem. It is all preference butt in my opinion Roku is the better all around streamer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the new Apple TV but returned it for the Roku 4. Although you can get an Apple TV with 32 or 64 GB, you can't store any media on it. The Roku doesn't have a lot of onboard memory, but you can attach a flash drive or small portable HD. The Roku has more channels, but the Apple TV has a much prettier interface. Another difference is the Apple TV has Bluetooth and can connect to Bluetooth headphones. The Roku has a headphone jack on the remote, but it isn't very solid. The main selling point of the Roku 4 is the 4K output. However, there isn't a lot of content available and you have to have a 4K TV. IMHO, the Roku is the better option unless you are looking for something that has pretty menus.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Faster processor, voice search, remote finder, and 3000+ channels vs apple's 70+
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.roku is more fast, open source not like apple tv and have 4k display
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the Roku 4 can handle 4K content providing you have necessary equipment if you do some research, you can see differences in set up. my son is invested in ITunes, so the Apple tv works for him I have a 4K tv so the Roku 4 works for me and I like it alot
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Roku 4 supports 4k and 10bit color. Apple Tv does not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.AppleTV is the streamers for Apple content. Roku 4is the best streamer for everything else
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The main difference will be the apps. But most of the main services that stream are available on both. Apple TV will have more games. The main difference in hardware you'll find is that the Roku 4 supports 4K resolution while the Apple TV 4 doesn't. The Roku 4 is slightly larger.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Roku 4 has 4K capability and also supports an Amazon prime app as well as slingbox, for those looking to cut the cable tv cord. Both has games but Apple TV went a step further by providing much more internal memory for more intense gaming and graphics. Aldo, Apple TV will support iTunes and provide AirPlay. No Amazon Prime and no Slingbox support.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
