“How does the Roku 43R4A5R do on showing content recorded at lower resolutions, like DVDs or old videotapes? Many smart TVs at this price point do not do well in this regard from what I have read.”

I've got no complaints...the DVD I played looked just like the stuff I watched on my old TV using my DVD player.
