• yes you can use this for the TV. I have it hooked up directly for my TV. YOU DO have to have internet access for the Roku. IF you have wifi in your house but NOT cable you will be fine. I don't have a computer in my house at all. Just internet. HOWEVER there are some channels that you can get for for free IF you have a cable account.(just as an FYI)

• Yes. But you still need wifi connection to use the apps, and of course, pay for each app you'll be using. Some are free, not too many.
