“I do not have an available hdmi port not in use on my tv. Need to hook up via component cable, does this express model have component or just hdmi? Anyone hooked one up via component?”

Express plus has composite and HDMI. I have used with an HDMI to composite converter (about $30). Not sure of you can get a converter with component

The express does not have component hookup but there's another version of Roku that looks just like the express that has component hookup

No problem an hdmi box is available so that you can use more inputs
