Roku stick also has way more fee apps(channels) than the fire stick, some of them that Amazon charges are free on Roku. Roku can search through text or voice, whether you use its remote (text only) or it's app. It can search the available titles of a wide variety of channels. Both are close in price

• A:Answer I have both and I like the Roku much better. The Chromecast device often hangs or drops which is a pain. The Roku device doesn't appear to do that. I will say that my roku device is wired (not wifi) and that may be part of the difference. Like anything, your mileage may vary.

• A:Answer No, BUT you can download the companion Roku app on a smartphone or tablet and use the voice search feature through the app. The app then becomes the remote. It uses your phone's processing power because the stick can't do it. So... With phone/tablet app = yes. With physical remote that comes with the stick = no.

• A:Answer Yes, Yes. and Yes. If you are asking about video streaming apps like Amazon and Netflix, yes there are even dedicated buttons on the remote for that. If you are asking about streaming videos from your computer, yes there is an app called PLEX. If you are asking about video streaming from your smartphone or tablet, yes there is a setting on the Roku stick in the System settings that lets you mirror your device screen. Your device has to support mirroring or needs a mirroring app.

• A:Answer I have not found anything on ROKU or any other service that is 'free' to be worth fooling with. You will pay a subscription fee for Hulu, Netflix, etc. I do NOT like paying one for such channels as ABC, NBC or CBS and PBS requires a 'donation' to unlock it's PassPort shows ($5.00 will do about every 6-12 months). As I hate commercials, I pay a bit extra to leave them OFF on Hulu.
