• It can stream up to 4k, so 1080p is supported. You can get this, then if/when you get a 4k TV you'll be good to go.

• Yes it will. It is NOT required to have a 4K TV in order to use the ULTRA. But you will NOT see a higher resolution on the TV than it can offer. IE, you cannot see any better than 720p on a 720p TV even if you are pumping 4K into it.

• Yes, it should step down to 1080P if necessary but many streaming sources are lucky to be 1080P in the first place.
