I am able to get dolby 5.1 and DTS with my optical cable

Correct. Optical digital connections don't support DD Plus. Programming that has DD Plus soundtrack is output as DD 5.1 over the optical digital output.

That is correct, the optical output does not support DD+. In fact optical can only support DD.
