By far the best streaming device with accessing 4k streaming content currently on the market. Connect an external drive via USB and local content access is a breeze. Download useful apps such as PLEX, Netflix, FandangoNOW and you have a little machine that can serve up beautiful content on the big fancy tv of yours.

I already owned a Roku box. We moved and I couldn't find my old one so I decided to buy another. The Roku - Ultra Streaming Media Player is awesome! Easy to use and smooth with very little buffering. Well worth the additional money. I didn't realize how often I would use the ear phone jack.

I love this dvise, with over 5000 applications; It is user friendly, the remote not only can be identified if lost by an alert system, the channels are east to change, the voice command facilitates the navigation of channels and in general an amazing upgrade of on demand technology.

Roku is great picture and sound stream fast. Very simple

Excellent replacement for the netflix, sling, hulu youtube built in apps on my TV's. this thing loads everything way faster and when you click a shortcut app on the roku remote, it turns on your TV automatically. the only thing missing is a sleep function or auto shutdown after a few hours that way you dont waste bandwidth if you fall asleep. so far i love it with sling specially.

This is great for what it is, meaning it has 4k capabilities and HDR. The downfall is the HDCP 2.2 issue. The screen will turn purple and say HDCP unauthorized... the only way to get that to go away is if you pull out the HDMI cable and put it back in and or rest the roku through the settings. It's a HUGE pain!! Hopefully a software update will help but as of now regardless if you have an HDMI 2.2 cable, 4k TV with HDCP compliance and or HDR support you will have this issue. I will recommend this because it's better than not having anything because it's the only thing on the market that has streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon and VUDU with 4K and HDR CONTENT besides a TCL & Vizio TV. Let's be real though if your a fan of the latest and greatest TV you aren't looking at a TCL or Vizio TV even though Vizio stepped up their game they still are mid to low... I have a Samsung 65KS8000.

The device has a fantastic 4k picture. However, it suffers from the "HDCP Unauthorized" problem which seems to be common with Roku. After watching it for several hours, even in the middle of an episode, the screen will turn purple and display a notification that HDCP Unauthorized. If this were true, I couldn't watch any shows. Additionally, the color scheme will change and half the screen will be one set of colors and the other side will be different. See attached photos. I'll be returning this as neither my AppleTV nor my Amazon Fire Stick have this issue.

So we went to Best Buy to get the new 4K Apple TV when they came out but luckily for us, they didn’t have any in stock. For less than 1/2 the price, we picked up the Roku Ultra on sale. We had read reviews of all the name brand streaming devices before going and decided on the Apple TV because we have iPhones & iPads. But that didn’t matter at all as it turns out, we can use this Roku with ease! Basically sets itself up with the help of an HDMI cable. We plugged it in and the colorful UI showed up. We set up our network info and we were good to go. So easy! There are some preselected “apps” but there are tons of channels and apps so we removed those we didn’t need and set up those we did - like HBO Go, Showtime now (some are confused by those - you DO need a subscription to watch) and local stations so we could have “on demand”. Because we don’t have a cable box but use a TiVo we didn’t have “on demand” but now we do and we love being able to see what we want when we want! You can also set the apps to show up in the order best suited for you. I put our most watched at the top. This unit does support 4K which we don’t have now (we do have an HD tv now), but when we do, we’re ready! I also believe this does upscale. The picture is beautiful. The clear picture we get and the fast streaming is incredible! There is almost no lag time. We previously had options to stream some channels via the blu-ray player and TiVo but they were very slow, limited selection and would stop frequently for buffering. That hasn’t happened once with the Roku. The voice search on the remote works extremely well for us. Example “Meryl Streep” brings up a listing of shows/movies with Meryl. Some may need a subscription others may be free to see but they’re all there for you. The remote is also very convenient as 1 touch to any button will turn on the tv, set it to the correct input and turn on the Roku. We can also cast from our iPhones via the Roku app. We use it to cast personal photos and videos! It simply couldn’t be easier. I HIGHLY recommend the Roku Ultra. I don’t see how you could be disappointed!! Just remember to see shows on Netflix, Amazon prime and other pay services, you do need to subscribe to those services.

very fast and very simple device to use.only buy this new roku ultra if your television supports 4k, 4k ultra,hdr and hdcp 2.22 pass through. i would strongly recommend buying rocketfish 4k and hdr hdmi with this roku ultra.and you will see a huge difference in faster speeds and picture quality

Before purchasing this item I was wavering between Roku and Fire stick in my journey to cut the cable and save money. I wanted to be able to use Sling TV as my love TV source. I was very upset to see the first review from Best Buy staying that this Roku model doesn't work with Sling. I did more research and found that often, it is not Sling that is the issue, but individual home Networks or Internet connections that can cause the problem. I decided to take the chance and I am so glad I did! When I powered on the device, it created me by telling me Roku had recently worked very hard to make updates to make my experience much better. It seems they knew there were issues... My cable television would occasionally freeze, or sound would cut out. I was used to bugs and paying out the nose to have problems all the time so I was prepared for there to be some issues with the Roku. I already had Netflix and Amazon Prime. I added Hulu for $8 a month and the second tier Sling package for $25 a month to my subscriptions and there hasn't been a show I can't view! When exiting Sling, there is about a 10second delay before Roku returns to the home screen. Hulu has frozen once and when I exited and re-entered it was fine but that used to happen with Netflix on my Smart TV as well. If those are the only bugs I have, then I'm already a million times happier than I was with cable TV and I'm not paying for 1000 channels I don't watch or rental fees for boxes and remotes! I love the voice search function on the remote! It hasn't mixed anything up yet and I use it constantly! Then I can see all the places my show is available. It lists the free ones as well as paid ones depending on which service I want to use to access it. My TV is a 4k model and there is a 4k spotlight app to show me all the content that is available in my beautiful Ultr High def! I really like that I can "follow" shows and Roku gives me updated when new episodes become available (kind of like setting a DVR but I don't need to store the recordings). My husband loves being able to plug the headphones into the remote and watch TV with out me having to hear whatever he is watching. Sling had a deal where if you pre-pay for 2 months, you get a free Roku stick or 50% off on the Roku model just under this one of you pre-pay for 3 months. I took the second deal and now I have that Roku device in my bedroom. I do miss the voice search function on that model though!

The roku ultra is great. I upgraded from a roku 2 and the difference is amazing. So much faster, remote is way better, streams easier, and picture seems crisper. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I picked this up to finally replace my Apple TV. With this device I'm hoping that I can watch all my streaming with one device. The newest Apple TV still can't do Amazon Prime and my old Apple TV couldn't do Plex (streaming from my home media server). Plus the CW network now has an app that doesn't work on the old Apple TV. A big issue as new episodes on that network are no longer on Hulu. So, this Roku Ultra does it all for me. I no longer have to fire up Apple TV, a PS3, or an XBox based on what I'm watching. This doesn't appear to run hot like the old Roku 4 and there is no fan either so it is a lot quieter than the Roku 4 (that this model replaces). The only con I see so far is closed captioning on Roku is really poor compared to Apple TV (or other devices in general really). The captions are poorly placed, have black boxes all around them, and can't interpret things like apostrophes so it leaves a blank box where symbols like those should be. So my wife who uses captions all the time is a little disappointed. Other than that I have no complaints so far.

I really enjoy using this new Roku streamer. It's got a small footprint, nice build quality, and very fast, in regard to operation. I got great picture quality out of this machine, but as anyone should know, that all depends on your internet speed, which mine is 300 mbps. Pros: speed and ease of use; multiple apps; nice remote; ability to connect wireless or hard wired. Cons: just one major gripe, and that is the sound. Have it hooked up to my receiver, via HDMI, but when going between shows and/or apps, I would lose sound, i.e, would switch off and on, and didn't always transmit in Dolby Digital/DTS surround.

This is the Second Roku Ultra I have purchased within the last six months. The 1st one had to be returned as the remote quit working after only a couple of months. The Roku Ultra paired with a 4K HDMI gives a beautiful picture while streaming even with a slow connection. It rarely has buffering issues for us even with high internet usage. I still like my Roku 3 for connectivity better but it doesn't have as good a picture as the Roku Ultra.

We've been faithful Roku customers for several years now and, so far, they've never disappointed us. This new digital streaming box is great! Much faster than our old box and the 4K picture is crystal clear! We've also added a new MicroSD card and that's made channel load times even faster. I really recommend the new Roku Ultra. It's even got a great price! :)

I picked the Roku Ultra Streaming Player for my Birthday. Setting it up was very easy. The unit was quick o recognize the type of Video connected to it. I tried it using the 4k Ultra mode and the 1080 mode on another TV. Both were very satisfactory. The ease of Navigation is great. Having it's own headphone jack and volume control are great features.

I had already purchased this ROKU ultra streaming player about 3 weeks ago but then they just announced that they upgraded the ultra to include a power button and volume controls to work with your Television. I returned this one and did not realize that maybe they would already have the new one in stock. After finishing my return transaction I went over to the ROKU section of Best Buy, I look on the shelf where the Ultra model stock is and I see the 3 of the older models (like the one I returned ) and there in the very back of the shelf was the newest version! You can tell by looking at the picture on box, the remote has a red power button at the top of the remote. As I am traveling this week I have not had a chance to hook it up but I'm sure it will work just as the old one did. PS: on another note: the older version of the ultra had an optical audio output, the new one doesn't. That may make a difference to some if you are hooking it up to a home theater receiver that doesn't have HDMI inputs & outputs but if you have a newer home theater receiver that does you can just run the HDMI cable through it and it works great.

Upgraded remote with infrared TV on/off and audio volume control is first item to check, Older 2016 and 2017 Roku Ultras are still on sale, plus they lack the improved documentation for remote , totally lacking in earlier versions. Install works without fault to Samsung Curved 4K Ultra HD TV connected to Spectrum Cable DVR. No issue with HDMI cable auto accepting 4K Ultra HD or audio. No loss of audio quality even though new version does not have digital optic cable. If you are seeking to cut cable service, this is definitely the first step. Other reviews can cover the enormous and growing range of apps available. Many channels are available free, and many are not even available free on pay services - Sky TV, Reuters, Bloomberg, Fox News, Al Jazeera and RT. Roku also provides TV mirroring and smart phone app viewing. This definitely is the future.

The Roku Ultra is extremely easy to setup .. had it done in no time. Very very good picture. I set with wired ethernet and the video is smooth with no lag whatsoever. Works great with Netflix, Amazon and Playstation Vue.
