Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We upgraded to the Roku Ultra from the Roku 3. We immediately noticed a significant difference in our picture quality on the same TV. The upscaling on an 8 year old Vizio TV was rather fantastic. The real reason that we upgraded though is that we also upgraded our TV from a 42" to a 65" HDR 4k TV. The Roku Ultra is without a doubt worth every penny for our setup. We use Sling TV, Netflix, and a few other key apps. We also use the USB port to view movies. That was why we needed the Ultra over the Premier or Premiere Plus. If you're not in the market for a new TV anytime soon, the Roku 3 or Premiere might actually suit you just fine. We had our Roku 3 for 18 months and never had any issues with over heating. We've only had the Roku Ultra for 2 weeks now, but it's mounted to the back of the TV and completely out of sight. No issues whatsoever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both the Premiere+ and Ultra run pretty warm to hot. However they don't seem to degrade in their capability so I would say it hasn't been an issue in the past month that I have been using them. I have found them to lag a little on 4K material which is disappointing. I do use Sling TV from both devices with no issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I returned my Ultra for the Premier+. I haven't noticed my Premier+ overheating at all. The Ultra was more than what I needed. I haven't had any problems with my Roku. It plays every file I've wanted it to play. Don't know enough about Sling to make a comment on that but I'm loving the Premier+ and haven't really noticed any overheating.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As I have the roku ultra there is not much for 4k options on movies but more for tv shows and the streaming is amazing. I also have an Amazon fire stick and I will tell you we love the roku layout and easy of It. We have had it for about 2 months and have not experienced any problems with over heating but given the option between the premium+ and ultra you are probably better to go with the premium+ bec you still get the 4k options just not the price of the ultra that really just offers the special head phones with the remote.
