The amp is designed to drive speakers of 8 Ohm nominal impedance (of course impedance of a speaker varies with frequency). Nevertheless, it should be able to drive the Elac's. (I have the A14 MkII and have used it with Wharfedale Linton Heritage speakers, which are also rated at 6 Ohms). And since the A12 MkII has recently been released, you should be able to find the A12 discounted (at least $200 from Best Buy's price, so get them to price match).
