• It can and most likely will flip open if dropped.

• It will shut your phone. If it doesnt just face the phone facing screen down to put pressure to the case and then it will remain flat. I brought two of them and one case didnt close properlly but it got. Fixed once i had th phine faceing down in which made the cover stay flat and it hasnt lifted since.

• No it snaps shut with the clips in sides of the case. I have never had a single problem with lifting on any of my cases. ( otter box) it is a very good product.
