QuestionDoes the left side and top of this microwave get extremely hot when in use?

- Answer Thanks for your interest in the MC11H6033CT Microwave. Samsung recommends leaving adequate ventilation around the outside, as follows: 4" behind and on the sides, and 8" above. While the outside may feel warm, particularly when the grill and convection functions are used, it should not feel excessively hot. - Ms. Samsung

Questioncan you bake items like biscuits or cornbread?I would like to know how it switches from microwave to confection. Does it brown foods such as breads etc. If this item does the work of both microwave and toaster oven it would be the best thing ever and save counter space.

- Answer it does browns foods such as breads etc. the baking is tricky, it needs a couple of tries to master it and add like 30 more minutes per hour of cookin.

- Answer Not really well, because the grill is in the back top of the unit and since the dish rotates, it isn't under the hot grill constantly due to rotation. It would take a longer time than your broiler would.

QuestionI've never had a microwave that has a forward opening door rather than one that opens to the side. Has anyone found this to be inconvenient?. My husband sees this as a problem for some reason.

- Answer I found it to be very *convenient* since you don't need to worry about having extra countertop space to the left or right of the oven to allow the door to swing open. And, visit your store and try out a few microwave oven doors. This one is MUCH sturdier and doesn't have a problematic pushbutton -- which on most microwaves feels very flimsy and, if you read the reviews, most also suffer from sticking from time to time. No such problem with this one.

QuestionSmart Microwave/Convection Oven stays on after "fast preheat" is turned offI noticed the oven stays "on" after turning off of "fast preheat" mode. It was hot. Was the fan cooling off the oven? Is this normal operation?

- Answer Yes. Mine does the same. I leave the door open during the 1- to 2-minute cooldown period to help the fan cool the oven off.

QuestionWhat does the manual mean by, "Check if the heating element is in the correct position...", and, "Check if the heating element is in the horizontal position..."? The heating element is immovable. It can only be in one position.

- Answer It appears to have a retaining clip in the back I would guess they want you to make sure the heating element is still attached to the retaining clip and has not slipped off from moving or maybe hit by inserting a plate. My guess only.

- Answer During convection mode, yes, you can -- in 25-degree increments IIRC. Up to 400 degrees F.

- Answer You will need to leave at least 10 cm of space in the back and at 20 cm on the sides to vent out the heat.

- Answer Well, let's see here. (Gets up, goes to closet, grabs trusty Stanley tape measure from toolbox, measures oven ...) The oven is 18 inches deep from the front of the door to the back of the heat shield on the back. Add 1.5 inches if you want to include the handle. And before anyone else chimes in, here are the rest of the dimensions: Height, 12 inches. Width, 20-3/4 inches. Now I gotta get up and put away the danged tape measure! Geesh, the things I do for you. :)

QuestionWhere did my question go?I asked why this $400 microwave oven, which I purchased yesterday, doesn't have a kitchen timer, especially since Best Buy's website says it does. My question was here last night, and now it's gone. I can only assume this was a technical error, so I'm posting it again.

- Answer The magnetron in a microwave (the thing that makes the microwaves) often makes a buzzing sound that can be mistaken for a vibration or loose part in the oven. It's not. Mine's made that buzzing sound since day one. To confirm it's the magnetron, run the oven for a few seconds in convection-only mode. Notice no buzzing noise? It's the magnetron. Nothing's wrong with your oven.
