“How well does this model vent to the outside? Does it leak air when venting? I have a different brand's low profile microwave, and the outside venting is not good. I am thinking of returning that for this?”

The leaking air is mist likely an issue with the installation and not the hood. A lot of people claim to be good HVAC contractors but truth is most just try to get in and out as fast as possible cutting lots of corners. I recommend telling your hvac contractor that you are going to have a leak test performed prior to acceptance of their work.
