“Is the filter removable? Can the filter be taken out to clean and/or replace?”

• The filter can be removed. It requires removing a couple of screws and taking off the grill at the top front of the microwave. I don't think this was really explained in the owner's manual.

• The SMH1816 comes with two grease filters which can be removed and cleaned in hot soapy water, as well as a charcoal filter which can be removed and replaced as needed. Samsung recommends cleaning the grease filters about once a month and replacing the charcoal filter every 6 to 12 months, particularly if the microwave is set up to vent internally. - Ms. Samsung
