A:AnswerIt is the holes inside the cabinet that screw into the microwave to assist the upright position of the microwave and tightly secure it. I would not install it without any screw into the microwave from the top. Do not know the configuration of your kitchen & stove, but most kitchens have the stove nicely fit into the 30" or larger space (36"). Usually there is cabinet above it, can use it to vent the exhaust outside. If you do not have the cabinet, you may have to build one above the stove. The 2 screws on the microwave is about 23 to 25 inches apart for a 29+" microwave. Suggest to make the cabinet at least 30" width for drilling the holes for the screws.
A:AnswerYes, the unit can vent to the outside or recirculate and send the air to the front of the microwave oven (air goes up, but at the front of the unit). One plate has to be moved from the back to the top and the fans have to be rotated 90 degrees. It is a total of 3 screws or so. The rotation is a little tricky because it looks like you are trying to slide the fan assembly on some rails but it won't go back in because those really are not rails --- the fans mount against those rails, not sliding over them.

A:AnswerHi NotCardboard,
Thank you for reaching out and we hope you are in good health. The cardboard like material removed is called mica. It covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity.

A:AnswerWe appreciate you asking, Christy! This model is designed to be installed over a range or cooktop. Because of this, it cannot be used on a countertop, as the bottom needs to remain open for proper ventilation. ^Jecca
A:AnswerActually you do need some clearance on the door hinge side. I have 0.5 inch clearance on the left side and the door does not open fully without forcing. I just got the microwave today and maybe the hinge will eventually get bent enough that it will open without a loud cracking noise.
The best way to align the microwave for clearance on the door hinge side is to install the microwave and then loosen the screws from the top mounting about 4 turns or so (make sure the microwave is secure and not in any danger of dropping) and then force the door open to 90 degrees and keep it open. Then tighten the mounting screws all the way. Now the microwave is shifted to the right enough for the door to swing open with the least amount of interference. Unfortunately for me a have a pantry on the left side and only 0.5 inches of clearance on the left side when the microwave is shifted to the right as far as possible in my installation (no clearance at all on the right side). The door only opens about 35 degrees before the door hits the pantry on the left but it can be forced open to 90 degrees with a resulting loud crack and the door hinge must be bending because the door tilts down after this. It can be bend back to level with a little upward pressure with the door open just slightly. I have no idea want damage this is doing to the long term reliability of the door hinge, but it is the best I can do with my space restrictions. We are hoping that the door hinge loosens up over time without any significant reliability impact. Since it does open 35 degrees freely, the door does not have to be forced open every time we use the microwave. Also note that with the bending of the door hinge that the door does not close easily -- either it needs a light upward force (which I do) or needs to be slammed (which my wife does). I have seen other microwave ovens with a specification of 0.5 inches clearance on the hinge side , but I didn't see that listed for this model when I was searching for this information. I could have measured this in the store, but I was in a hurry to replace a older GE Adore 1.9 cu foot unit (from 2012) so I bought this unit on-line and it was ready within 30 minutes after ordering it. There are very few choices if you want to pick up a over-the-range microwave within a few hours. I was glad that Best Buy had one available in store. All the holes lined up and I could use the old GE Adore wall bracket as well. It is a perfect fit other than the door hinge issue.
