“Does this item have ability to cool more often in hot summer and preserve motor/compression during frigid temperatures? We just had a regular freezer die as it could not take the extremes in Nebraska climate. This is an important question.”

Regarding your concern, the refrigerator can be able to withstand the temperature within the temperature range: between 50 °F (10 °C ) and 110 °F (43 °C).
