Yes, you have to turn the volume all the way down on the TV. I only use the sound bar for my volume.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Neither my TV nor my sound bar are wall-mounted. The sound bar sits on the TV stand directly in front of the TV set, and I have experienced NO static noise problems. P.S. Don't feel like your TV setup is deficient or inferior just because you don't have it wall-mounted. I really don't much like the idea of punching holes in my wall, and I retain the flexibility to move or resituate the TV if I want (say I decide to rearrange the room). The TV on a stand of adequate size is perfectly fine.
