Yes, we just had it installed a couple of weeks ago. Our DirecTV remote control does do volume and on/off.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, I recently purchased a Samsung TV and the Samsung HW-N400/ZA Soundbar. I connected the TV to my Optimum cable box, then used the included optical cable to make the connection between the TV and the Soundbar. After I programmed the Optimum remote with the correct code for the Samsung TV, the Optimum remote controls power and volume on both. So far, one remote is doing everything together. Of course this is an Optimum remote and a DirecTV remote might work differently. But if you're using a Samsung TV and a Samsung Soundbar, and if your DirecTV remote works on the TV, then I think it should work on both.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We have one of the universal remotes in our bedroom where this is plugged in. You have to switch the selector to Aux to control power but it will adjust the volume without having to move the selector to AUX. you will have to program it to do it though.
