“Can any over the range microwave first be used as a countertop unit? We are in the middle of kitchen renovation and our old unit died. Not a fan of buying a counter top unit by itself unless it can be installed over the range. Thank You”

Well, there is an exhaust vent on the bottom, and it bulges out a bit. So if you place it on a flat surface, the microwave will be a little uneven and unstable. I'd suggest putting a cloth under the microwave so it maintains its balance. Other than that, if you have the space, I don't see any reason not to use it on a countertop. Just make sure its stable.
