To answer your question, the ice maker is capable of making 10 pounds of ice a day and it's only capable of holding 2 pounds of ice at a time. Once the ice bucket is full, the ice maker will stop. • No, it will continue to fill. You have to use a bucket to empty excess ice. I came home one day, and my entire freezer was full of ice!!!!
