In the door. One of the shelves will hold a gallon of milk and a large orange juice container while another shelf holds a gallon of milk with other condiments and stuff. We easily store 2 gallons of milk and a large orange juice at the same time in the door. you can also push back part of one of the middle shelves to hold taller items like a bottle of wine
