Doubtful that the filter would do that. Maybe Samsung could answer your question. This refrigerator is a bit noisy at times so I would hesitate to purchase if you are in a small kitchen or are sensitive to noise. It's not real loud but definitely louder than any other refrigerator that I have heard on the last 40 or so years.
