Are they important to my Samsung running properly??”

Thanks for the question. The RF261 Refrigerator does require a water line installation kit for connecting the Refrigerator to your home's water supply in order for the internal water dispenser and automatic ice maker to function. - Ms. Samsung

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.all refrigerator with ice makers need a water supply to make ice . if there is not a water connection, turn the ice maker off to avoid damage
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No danger so long as you shut off the ice maker (ICE OFF button). You don't need to hook the water up to this one. But, if you do, the connector is (should) be provided but not the additional parts for installing a water line from the main pipe to your fridge. These kits are pretty easy to get at your hardware store.
