Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but you can have an external water purification and just replace the inner filter once every 6 months. Just when the refrigerator indicates the replacement cycle, take it off and put it back on. The external purification process will add and additional 6 months, and the filter would last up to a year inside. That's what I'm doing right now. Thank you!

If you do not wish to use the internal water filter (or if your home has a home water filtration system) all you'll need to do is remove the water filter from the refrigerator. The housing has an automatic valve that will close when there is no water filter to prevent leaks. ^Jecca
