Hi ChefWright, Yes, you can turn off either or both ice makers on the Samsung RF27CG5010S9/AA model, as it features a Dual Auto Ice Maker system with separate controls for each ice maker. However, it is not recommended to place any objects in the ice maker, as this may cause damage. Have a great day. -John
