“Does this ice maker have the same problem as all other Samsung ice makers that are in the refrigerated section and not the freezer section with frost, jamming up and having to defrost on a monthly basis because of its poor design, unsealed compartment?”

Yes it does. Mines leaks constantly from the seal in the refrigerator.
