The optical cable is shipped with covers over the end of the connectors to protect the fiber optic inside. You must pull the little clear bulb looking covers off the ends, turn connector to line up with socket, and push in. Should go in relatively easy once protective covers removed from ends of cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Remove the plastic protective cover from the ends of optical cord. For some reason the directions do not mention removing this very small piece of plastic on both ends of the optical cord.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are probably small plastic, protective caps on the optical ends of the cable. Those have to be removed. Once those are removed, the ends of the optical cable will snap firmly and fully into both the TV and the sound bar optical connections. I've uploaded 2 photos. One photo is of an optical cable with the caps on. The other shows the caps off.
