• A:Answer Hi there, The Hood has only one weather requirement for installing in a cold area. See below: COLD WEATHER installations should have an additional backdraft damper installed to minimize backward cold air flow and a nonmetallic thermal break to minimize conduction of outside temperatures as part of the ductwork. The damper should be on the cold air side of the thermal break. The break should be as close as possible to where the ducting enters the heated portion of the house. • A:Answer Yes, it can be ventless, which is why it's called "convertible" (don't know why the other person said it wan't, but it is.) To convert it, you need to buy an additional recirculation kit--which is rarely in stock, anywhere. FYI, it is Samsung NKAF020FNB, and called The Samsung Hood Recirculation Kit.
