From the User's Manual, page 28 Cooking zones Minimum diameter of the bottom of the cookware 1) 5 "/ 145 mm 2) 7.5 "/ 190 mm 3) 6 "/ 160 mm 4) Size to occupy more than 60% of the Flexcook zone (I'm not home to measure it, but I believe each of the squares is about 8"x8" giving you 8"x16" when using both.) You can use just one square at a time controlled individually or use both together controlled as one large burner. For any of the elements, it only heats the amount of space covered by the pan. So if you put say a round 8" diameter pan on one of the square flex elements, only the round area the pan is covering would get hot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The bridged element, or Flex CookZone as it's called on the NE597N0PBSR, is 10" wide by 17" long. It can be used for a single large pan which would need to cover at least 60% of that area, or you could use the front and back areas separately for pans that are at least 6" in diameter. Thanks for the question! Ms. Samsung
