Thanks for the question. I can't speak for your previous stove, but I can tell you that it isn't unusual for some of the surfaces of the NE597R0ABSR to feel hot, particularly areas around the door or at the back of the cooktop. When the oven is in use, these areas have vents that allow some of the heat from the oven or the space between the panes of glass in the door to escape. If the gasket around the door appears damaged, which could enable more heat to escape than normal, I would suggest contacting 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG for assistance determining whether service is advisable. - Ms. Samsung
