“Is there a trick to making a pot simmer on a "fast boil" plate? Even the lowest setting keeps it at a rolling boil and burns the bottom. The repair man said he couldn't fix it because that what fast boil plates do, is he correct ?”

I have the same issue. The only place to simmer seems to be the back two burners and my big pots do not fit there.
