Simply turn the current filter counterclockwise to unlock and remove, then insert the new one and turn clockwise to lock in place. Shutting off the water supply valve before changing the filter isn't always necessary, but it can help to alleviate pressure in the lines and make it easier to remove and replace the filter. Dispensing several gallons of water will help to bleed air from the lines and ensure an even flow.
