“What is the black tab on the back right side of the cooktop? Does something connect to it? What is it for? I plan to install a GE downdraft and need to know the backside clearance. Thanks.”

Hi Enrique. This Samsung Cooktop has Wi-Fi capability you can connect your phone and monitor the cooktop, check and change the timer settings. The black tab at the back is the Wi-Fi module, and nothing goes connected to it. For more information about clearance or the Wi-Fi module check page 11 of the installation manual. It's for the wifi module. it should stick out about 3/4 of a inch.
