What is the stacked Height with stacking kit   (2 Answers)

My washer and dryer closet has a door that is 80 inches high, 35 inches wide, with closet depth 38 inches. I bought the washer and gas dryer and had it delivered to my house. When Best Buy delivered the washer and dryer, they said that there was not vertical clearance to install. How much clearance do you need to install the washer and dryer stacked with the stacking kit? Note: the closet door height is 80 inches, but the ceiling height is 8 ft.

        Answer

Hi Justin, The stacked height of the WF42H5400AF and matching Dryer is 77-1/2", and Samsung recommends leaving 6" above the units for ease of installation as well as air circulation. It's important to have sufficient room above the units in order to lift the Dryer on top of the Washer to stack them, as well as space on the sides to maneuver the units into place. In addition, the clearance requirement for depth when installing the units in an enclosed area like an alcove or closet is approximately 41". I would suggest referring to the specifications sheet or installation section of the User Manuals, which can be downloaded as pdf files from Samsung's website, for additional clearance requirements for closets. Thank you! Ms. Samsung

Is the door reverseable?   (3 Answers)

My washer location is to the right of the dryer. I would prefer the washer door open from the left so I can have a direct line to the dryer without going around the washer door.

        Answer

Like most front load washers, the door on the WF42H5400AW opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible, so it can open in the opposite direction to the washer when set up side by side, or in the same direction if the units are stacked. When the unit was delivered, it came with a set of "standard" hoses. I believe there's an option to purchase fancy ones, but the ones that come with the unit have worked great for me so far.

          Answer

Depends on the wash cycle. Quick Wash is 26 minutes. Regular Wash is 45 minutes. You can add extra rinse and extra spin for about 10 more minutes. The longest cycle (Sanitize) is about 2 1/2 hours. There are 9 other cycles in between. Super Speed will shorten some cycles by about 10 minutes, You can add Steam to some cycles for about 20 more minutes wash time. There is a Rinse and Spin cycle that lasts 19 minutes. You can also delay your wash load in hour increments if you want it to start it at some other time.

Does this unit have the onboard water heating function?

            Answer

The unit seems to have its own heating function for the purposes of the steam cycle. However, I suspect the hot water cycle simply uses the water at the temperature it comes from your home's hot water heater.

              Answer

The WF42H5400AW requires a 120V/60 Hz/15-amp electrical connection, drain pipe access, and a hot and cold water supply with a pressure of 20-116 psi. I would suggest contacting the owner or manager of your building to determine whether you're able to install this Washer in your apartment. It may help to mention that Samsung's Vibration Reduction Technology which is included in this model helps to significantly reduce noise and vibration, even when installed upstairs in a house. Can I use 5' hose on for the connecter to the steam dryer?   (0 Answers)

We live in a condo and our washer/dryer are in a closet in our bedroom . We want to use braided stainless steel hoses for installation, including the hoses that go from the Y connector to the washer and dryer. We cannot find anything shorter than 5' stainless hoses - the rubber hoses that come with are only about a foot long. Is there any reason we should not use the longer hoses? Installation is hopefully Friday (March 4, 2016) and we hope to know before then. Thank you.
